Title: OpenShift Administrator
Location: Irving, Tx (Onsite/ Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize OpenShift Container Platform architecture to meet business and technical requirements.
- Define best practices and strategies for containerization and microservices-based application development.
- Develop and document high-level and detailed design for OpenShift platform solutions.
- Deploy and configure OpenShift clusters in on-premises, hybrid, or cloud environments.
- Implement secure and scalable CI/CD pipelines integrated with OpenShift to automate the deployment process.
- Optimize resource utilization and application performance across the OpenShift environment.
- Oversee the lifecycle management of the OpenShift platform, including upgrades, patches, and capacity planning.
- Monitor and troubleshoot OpenShift clusters, ensuring high availability and reliability of applications.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions for OpenShift environments using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
- Work closely with developers, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of OpenShift with existing infrastructure and workflows.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for OpenShift and container technologies, providing guidance and support to teams across the organization.
- Collaborate with cloud and network teams to ensure a robust, secure, and compliant infrastructure.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in containerization and cloud-native development.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve the OpenShift environment and related processes.
- Provide recommendations on cost optimization and resource efficiency for container workloads.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience is acceptable.
- 5-8 years’ Experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3+ years of experience as an OpenShift/Kubernetes Administrator.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, or Go)
- Deep knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Helm.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
- Expertise in networking concepts, including DNS, load balancing, ingress controllers, and service mesh (e.g., Istio).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, GitOps, and automated deployment pipelines.
- Knowledge of security best practices for containerized applications and OpenShift clusters.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
